Brett Martin Accident Massachusetts Death, Obituary

A tragic pedestrian accident in Maida Vale, Perth, has claimed the life of a woman after she was struck by a tow truck near the Maida Vale Road roundabout, prompting renewed calls from residents for urgent road safety improvements at what they describe as a dangerous intersection.

Emergency services were called to Maida Vale Road at approximately 3:55 p.m. following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a tow truck. Despite the efforts of first responders, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tow truck was not injured in the incident and is assisting Western Australia Police with their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

In the wake of the tragedy, residents have intensified their campaign urging the Shire of Kalamunda to implement stronger traffic-calming measures along the intersection of Priory Road and Maida Vale Road. Community members have launched an email-writing campaign calling for immediate action, arguing that the fatal collision could have been prevented if long-standing safety concerns had been addressed.

In a letter shared among residents, campaigners said the loss of life was “completely preventable,” stating that the community had repeatedly warned local authorities about excessive vehicle speeds and the dangers posed by the road layout. They said they had advocated for physical traffic-calming infrastructure, including speed humps and other measures designed to reduce vehicle speeds before another serious incident occurred.

Residents contend that previous traffic studies and consultations have failed to deliver meaningful safety improvements. They are now calling on the local council to move beyond further reviews and introduce permanent infrastructure that prioritises the safety of pedestrians and motorists alike.

As police continue their investigation, the tragedy has reignited broader discussions about road safety in the area. Community members hope the devastating loss will lead to meaningful changes that help prevent similar incidents in the future. Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact police as investigations continue.
